Illustrating Björk for #PaintOnSneakers Competition by Centro & Lee Cooper Indonesia

One day I was leisurely checking my Path when Mima tagged me on a thought about the competition. Since I was kind of had my mind somewhere else, I didn't carefully read about the rules & regulation of the competition and just signed myself on rather spontaneously. Few days after, I got a phone call telling me that I passed the first selection and was welcomed to take the sneaker I was supposed to paint on. After the phone call, I started reading the rules carefully, but it was, of course, a little late :p

The surprising parts were:
  1. All the finalists had about 3 days to complete the painting;
  2. The judging event, on which the finalists were highly suggested to attend, was scheduled on April 7th, which was exactly the day of my boyfriend's graduation ceremony. Hahaha.
Those were the major surprises aside from the minor ones which included a high stack of deadlines that was lying right in front of my eyes during the days that I should be focusing onto that sneaker. But well, I had to be strong and not complaining on doing the things I actually chose to participate under my own will, right?

So, I get them (the painting and the queueing deadlines) done one by one. The week felt like it was moving so-o-o-o-o-o-o-o s-l-o-o-o-o-o-w-l-y....

And here's how the painting went:
Sketching, based on reference
Adding first & second layers of background
:) nearly there
Adding details
A little more to spice it up
Done

Overall, it was a pleasant experience, although I wish I had more time and a little less distracting deadlines along with it. But I am always glad for being given a reason to draw :D

Movie Poster Remake, "Made In Indonesia"

This is a little late, actually.

I submitted this piece to an open submission by Kopi Keliling called "Made In Indonesia". Didn't make the cut, but they told me they were gonna put this into the slide show along with other poster remakes anyway. I personally didn't get the chance to attend the exhibition because I had to attend a wedding in Bandung that day, so that was as much as I could explain.

Remake of Petualangan Sherina movie poster. A childhood memory :D

Anyway, I was trying a new media, ballpoint pen. Still a long way to get myself used to it, but I love the finished look it gives :D

And I got my first mention on Twitter regarding my illustration work :D :D :D

I feel flattered, +sixtwo. No, really. Seriously. :D

Lucky Luck

Whoa.

It's been pretty hectic lately. In a pleasing way, fortunately. :D

So, last Tuesday my boyfriend finally did his final thesis presentation, and he's now proudly a Master of Science in Management. Woo-hoo! I went to Bandung to be there and witness his long-awaited relieved expression and stayed for a couple of nights to get some things done. Anyway, I did not know any other ways to express how hard I was praying on Monday night, so I just scribbled this (with lots of complains and revision from him, though):

And my artwork is being opened for vote on Talenthouse. It's a Secret 7" project, fyi. So there are lots of artworks for you to vote there. But I sure do hope you'll vote for mine, which looks like this:
You can help voting this (if you want to) by entering your FB/Twitter account at this link.
Well, I don't dare to have high hopes of winning, actually. Because there're so many great pieces on Jessie Ware category on which I submitted my artwork to. But yeah, please do pray for me. :)

And don't forget to vote. :D

The Deal Was Just to Grow Up

Many people said.. one of the most significant signs that two people had grown apart was that they started laughing at different jokes. When one of them was so certain that what they said was supposed to sound funny and witty, yet the other one took it as a stab through the heart and pride.

I personally just had this moment. Well, not for the first time, though, but it did make me feel.. sad. Not because of what he might've actually said, but for realizing the disappointing fact that.. well, we simply had grown to two different directions in life.

Even after years and years and years of growing side-by-side, knowing each other's exes and circles of friends.. it's possible.

Lipsies

I believe I do have something going on with this kind of theme :p Well, when I was in high school I was being repeatedly told that I put all the weighs of being expressive into my lips instead of my whole parts of face. So maybe, that was the point where I started being obsessed about it.

Oh Zebra Print

My first concert in 2013 was AMAZING! YYYs was one of those bands that can easily set my mind back to my early college years. And Ra Ra Riot's 'Too Too Too Fast' was one of the songs that reminds me of the early months of my relationship when everything was still too sweet and wonderful and everything :p Too bad Ra Ra Riot's overall performance wasn't really working on me, two songs before that song, I gave up standing and moved out of the crowd because my feet felt so sore. That kind of soreness you get from boring concerts, you know.

Best part of that night?
This:
(not my personal documentation, though. I don't really like recording or snapping photos at concerts)

Them Petals

Diani on sunflower petals
Tadya on cosmos flower petals
Sheby on rose petals
It's finally done!

Pretty happy on how they turned out to be, too :D You know, the thing about drawing such familiar faces was how I kept remembering silly things I did with each of them. I was practically living all the old days. Sometimes I'm amazed by how we have been so patience in handling each one of us.

Oh, and hey, I'm on Behance now :)

Lungs

Someone I know has been hospitalized for a few days because of pneumonia. It's scary, especially how he described how he felt. '...Liquid on my iron lungs, it feels like drowning.' How could you not feel sorry for that?

Get well soon, Dhit.

Twinkling

Being in a long distance relationship (though 130-ish km is not actually that long) with someone who can easily be symbolized by musical instruments results in this. I have been missing him a little too much since I've got no more Castle episodes left to watch.

Edison's Workshop, She Said

So, one day I was with Ipit and Dessy, having beer and chit-chatting after our long day at work (I was still an employee then) when Ipit mentioned that she needed a steam punk-themed illustration for her on going interior project. Forgot how it actually went, but at the end I agreed to do the illustration.

Unfortunately things didn't go as planned, so this work is left unused. It was supposed to turn into a wallpaper of some sort.

Old Pieces

I was surfing the web randomly when I accidentally recalled a web address to where I used to participate by submitting my doodles randomly. Apparently, and unfortunately, the web is no longer being updated. My heart broke a little when I figured this out.

But anyway, these are my formerly mentioned doodles that I submitted:

Theme: Superhero
Title: False

Theme: Stripes
Title: Being

Theme: Dancing
Title: "As Long As The Ribbons are Around, I'll Dance"
Ah, those good old days :) Oh, anyway it's The Dancing Animal. I hope it'll be resurrected some time later.

Tattoo Illustration

About a week ago, one of the owners of the agency where I work came to my desk and asked me to do him a favor. His wedding anniversary is coming close and he had a secret surprise plan to get his body inked with the names of his son, daughter, and of course, loved wife.

Of course I didn't have the guts to say 'No'. Not only because he's the boss of my bosses, but mostly because I, myself, thought that it was a very sweet idea for a gift to the loved ones. I would really want someone to get his body inked with my name on. ...But let's just get back to the story because that one is not going to happen in this lifetime.

It was unlucky that just after he told me the request, came a tall stack of creative briefs to my desk, which had got to be done 'immediately' (well yeah, just like every other brief), so the tattoo project had to be postponed until they're done.

So me and the team had successfully gotten through the deadlines alive. The answer to the briefs are already delivered and received by the client yesterday. And since it was a long tiring week full of hardworks, the team actually decided to take a day off unofficially. So I got to an empty office today when I arrived, which got me into just the right mood to get the tattoo thing started :D
Will they really turn into real tattoos? Well, I'm crossing my fingers here, praying hard. I hope you will pray along with me, too :p

Yesterday's Mood

I have always wanted to be able to draw more often and better. Heheh.
